Knowing Your Rights - Disability & LGBTIQA+ Australians
Organisation: Thorne Harbour Health
In Australia, there are many laws and regulatory standards that protect the human rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bi+, Trans, Gender Diverse, Intersex, Queer and/or Asexual+ (LGBTIQA+) people living with disabilities. These laws and standards protect LGBTIQA+ people when discrimination happens.
The OVOLOW Resource Hub acknowledges First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of their unceded lands, seas, and waters of so-called Australia, and pays respect to all First Nations Elders. This always has been and always will be Aboriginal land. We pay our respects to all First Nations LGBTIQA+ people with disability and recognise the distinct and significant contributions they make to Australian life and disability and LGBTIQA+ communities.
‘Nothing about us, without us’
The OVOLOW Resource Hub recognises LGBTIQA+ people with disability as the leaders and co-creators of this work. We acknowledge the generosity of this community whose stories, knowledge, experiences, and expertise make these resources possible for the betterment of all. ‘Nothing about us without us’.
